The Ontario Justice Video Network (JVN) was required to procure through a Request For Bid (RFB) a complex managed service that provides audio and video conferencing equipment, software and services for the Province of Ontario court system. The scope included supporting over 900 AV rooms across the Province; designing and building out new audio-visual and video conferencing systems; providing multi-party video meeting services and the overall service management, integration and support for the Ministry’s justice video network over a 7 to 10 year term.
CSE, working with key Ministry, OPS I&IT and JVN stakeholders, led the procurement strategy, stakeholder management and development of the RFB deliverables. Key activities included requirements gathering and documentation, RFB content development, technical and commercial evaluation criteria development, stakeholder communications and management and project management / governance, including executive and steering committee presentations.
CSE acted as the Business Project Manager responsible for leading the 911 Telephony Replacement Project for the Ontario Ministry of Health (MOH). This business transformation engagement included the creation of one province-wide standardized, fully supported, and integrated new telephony solution across all 21 central ambulance communication centres.
This new telephony solution is MOH’s key foundation that will allow all communication centres to move to the NG9-1-1 network. CSE was responsible for leading business requirement development for the Provincial Standards, overall project governance, implementation planning, vendor management strategies, stakeholder management, communication and managing risks, issues and actions.
A large Canadian telecommunication services provider received challenging customer feedback and was struggling to clearly understand their competitive positioning in the video conferencing and collaboration services market.
CSE developed a market assessment with customer needs, insights and differentiators that helped them understand their competitive position and value proposition. CSE then worked with them to develop a clearly defined value proposition and a roadmap to improve their sales and client relationship management processes in the vertical. Within 6 months customer feedback improved, ultimately resulting in a significant win with a key target customer.
The Ontario Justice Video Network (JVN) needed a strategy that aligned with their client (Justice Ministry) needs; and that would be adopted by team members, business partners and vendors. CSE led the effort to revitalize, rebrand and reposition JVN.
Working with CSE, JVN successfully aligned on their vision and strategy roadmap, determined their vendor partnering needs and developed a comprehensive sourcing strategy. CSE also supported the development of a stakeholder and communications strategy to increase awareness of JVN and JVN services amongst its business partners. To deliver on this engagement CSE created a 6-step approach that was focused on active stakeholder participation and team member involvement.
A large Ontario Ministry was required to go through a formal procurement process to select a new single source Vendor of Record (VoR) for a video managed service to replace an out-of-date solution. CSE managed the entire procurement process from launch to vendor selection to onboarding.
To ensure successful delivery, CSE created a vendor selection methodology tailored to meet client needs, ensuring clear communication, representation, and feedback from all stakeholder groups, ensuring a fair and transparent vendor selection process, ensure project milestones and timelines were met and finally ensure the “right” proponent was selected.
A critical infrastructure provider was mid-way through a challenged digital/technology transformation project when they asked CSE to conduct an independent review of the project status and ability to deliver. CSE interviewed key project stakeholders across internal and vendor groups, reviewed project artefacts including governance and project management/PMO office materials and developed a bottom-up estimate to complete (ETC) based on the facts made available.
The assessment identified significant challenges with project governance and reporting, PMO processes and leadership. CSE then supported the implementation of a revamped PMO and governance model, clearly defined RACI, achievable, re-baselined project plan and revised project leadership.
CSE provided consulting services to the Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) community focusing on keeping children with T1D safe at school.
In 2017, Lisa Geelen, on behalf of CSE chaired the Diabetes Canada advocacy working group which brought together over 12 different healthcare and non-for- profit organizations. This advocacy group collaborated and created a stronger voice which ensured the Ontario policy PPM 161 to ‘support children with Diabetes at school’ was developed.
Lisa partnered with ‘I Challenge Diabetes’ to co-host the first annual Kids in School (KIS) interactive workshop in Toronto.
In the spring 2018, Lisa received the Diabetes Canada inspiration Award for her work in keeping kids in school.
